April 2009
We’re still waiting on our final inventory order, but we have lots and lots of pieces to choose from, so come on in and help us work out our new store bugs.
It’s also Easter and we have just received our Easter themed bisque – so if you paint this Thursday, your pottery will be ready for pick up Saturday afternoon.
Easter holiday hours will be Thursday, 10:30 AM to 5 PM, Good Friday and Easter Monday 1pm-5pm.
As our debit machine has not arrived yet, we will be accepting cash and personal cheques.

Great news! Butterfly Bisque was featured in the Telegraph Journal's Developments column on March 24th. I want to thank Erin Dwyer for the great article and Peter Walsh for the great photo.
Renovations at the new studio space are almost complete. I want to thank my husband Anthony and my two daughters Sophie and Ava for all their help and patience during this busy time, and my father in law Tony for all his invaluable assistance. This couldn't happen without your support.
I have also been working on the studio's upcoming calendar of events and am excited that Butterfly Bisque will be hosting a very unique weekly Story Time Hour for its guests! We will be reading a short children’s story and then painting a piece of pottery that relates to the subject of the book! It’s a great, interactive way to get your children interested in reading early on. Any age child is welcome to participate as long as they are old enough to politely sit and listen to a short story. Sign-up is required as specific pottery will be ordered for this occasion. There are limited spots so please sign up early. Payment can be made the day of the storytime. Pieces painted will be ready for pickup the following storytime. Please call the studio at 847-1846 or email us at FireItUp@ButterflyBisque.ca to sign up for Story Time Pottery! We also welcome older siblings if they would like to paint separately without joining storytime at our regular painting rates.
An example of Storytime is the reading Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar and painting, what else, a caterpillar. The book follows a caterpillar as it munches its way through a variety of edibles such as ice cream, salami, watermelon, one slice of Swiss cheese, and a lollipop before it finally pupates and emerges as a butterfly. The story teaches the life cycle of a butterfly, counting to 5, the names of the days of the week, and about different types of food. Cost is $13.00 per child. Capacity is 15 children.
Hope to hear from you.

So much has been happening the last couple of months. We have had 2 more successful painting get-togethers at The Red Whale. Thanks again Sean and Michelle for all you have done to make this happen.
The studio was also the featured article of March 6th's KV Style. Thanks to Candace for the great article and for being patient with me while taking the photographs as my two darling girls tried and tried to get into the pictures.
The studio is coming along nicely. The walls are painted and soon we will be embarking on the construction. Stop by anytime we are there. Would love to chat about this summers' camps for kids.

Ladies Night was a great success. A special thanks to Gloria and Greg Barker for letting us host this wonderful event at The Infusion Tea Room. Also thanks to Kim Blue of Second Stage Safe Haven for all her help. A portion of the proceeds from this wonderful evening went to the Safe Haven. Glazed pieces have been returned to the happy artists.
Another Pottery Painting evening has been scheduled for February 10 @ 7pm at the Red Whale, 53 Clark Road in Rothesay.
Valentine's Day is coming up. Who's on your gift list? Wondering how to ask someone to marry? How about painting your proposal on a plate? Serve up a meal and watch her surprise. You can even bring the plate to your favourite restaurant. Wondering how to tell someone he is going to be a daddy? You get the idea.
So come on, gather your friends and get in on the fun! Feel free to reserve a table by calling 847-1846. Drop-ins are always welcome but seating is limited!
